Black Line to Buoy Line: Swim Clinics

2027 Swim Clinic Series for Triathletes

Black Line to Buoy Line

Four Saturdays. Ten swimmers. One progression from pool mechanics to open water swimming for triathlon.

Limited to 10 swimmers. Registration required.

More yardage is not the whole answer

More yards is a piece of the puzzle to getting faster. But, how do you know if the yards you are putting in have good form? This swim clinic series works to fix that issues. We go in order: fix position first, add propulsion second, practice open water skills in the pool, then take it all outside to get ready for race day.

1. Position

Alignment, balance, and drag reduction

2. Propulsion

Catch, pull, and kick that move you forward

3. Pack

Sighting, drafting, and swimming in a group

4. Plunge

Put it all together in open water

Position → Propulsion → Pack → Plunge. We’ve got it covered.

Each clinic is 2 hours and builds on the one before it. As such, you should plan to attend all 4 sessions.

The Series

Four Clinics, One Progression

Clinic 1

Position

Saturday, February 27
3:30-5:30 p.m.
Green Mountain Rec Center, Lakewood, CO

Reducing drag is the cheapest speed you will find. We work on head to toe alignment, side to side balance, head and breathing position, and core engagement.

Clinic 2

Propulsion

Saturday, March 27
3:30-5:30 p.m.
Green Mountain Rec Center, Lakewood, CO

How the catch, pull, and kick produce forward speed, and where most of us lose it. Drills are mixed into swim sets so you feel the change while swimming, not only in isolation.

Clinic 3

Open Water Skills & Group Swimming

Saturday, April 24
3:30-5:30 p.m.
Green Mountain Rec Center, Lakewood, CO

Practiced in the pool, where it is easier to coach and repeat. Sighting, swimming close to other people, drafting, and buoy turns.

Clinic 4

Open Water

Saturday, May 22
8-10 a.m.
Chatfield Gravel Ponds, Littleton, CO

The skills from the first three clinics, tested in open water with the group and support on the water.

Weather backup: If the water is still too cold on May 22, this session moves to Saturday, May 29, 8-10 a.m.

Why Ten Swimmers

Small group, personal coaching

These are coached sessions. To ensure personalized feedback, we cap these clinics at 10. It also keeps open water safe and manageable for Clinic 4.
